Roger recently moved to Springfield, IL from the New Orleans area. He graduated from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA with a Bachelor's in Music Education and studied over a year at Loyola University in New Orleans, concentrating studies on classical clarinet and jazz saxophone performance. He got his professional start in 1978 playing in local bands and continues today to perform with bands in the central Illinois area. He is also involved with the creation of sound tracks using keyboards that have been used in musical plays and radio advertising jingles.

Currently, Roger works with several groups that offer a wide variety of musical styles.

- For wedding ceremonies, he plays the soprano saxophone and piano using pre-recorded sound tracks to provide a lush, rich texture of music.

- For more sophisticated parties and dinner engagements, Roger has a jazz duo Twins that performs a variety of cool jazz and blues songs.

- In late 2005, Roger started his own group RK and the Funky Music Dept, a band that plays a variety of funky grooves, smooth jazz mixed with a little New Orleans-style funk. The band consist of Jeff Cunningham(bass), Howard Freitag(guitar) and Mike Newberry(drums). The band is playing material from groups such as SoulLive, Grover Washington Jr., SpyroGyro, Chick Corea, and Joshua Redman.

- He also performs with the smooth jazz group Moroccan Soul, a larger band that covers a wide variety of party music as well as great listening songs.

Roger also has had the privilege of performing with New Orleans famed bassist Tony Hall. Tony has toured and recorded with the likes of the Funky Meters, the Neville Brothers, Jewel, Harry Connick Jr, Emmy Lou Harris, Dave Matthews, Ivan Neville, and is currently touring with Trey Anastasio of Phish fame. Roger was a part of Tony's group 'Tony Hall and the Heroes' that performed in Sao Paulo, Brazil in the summer of 2006 and winter of 2008.

Roger was included in several performances with Ivan Neville and his group 'Dumpstafunk'. The band performed at Mardi Gras 2006, the New Orleans Jazz Festival 2006 and traveled to Sao Paulo, Brazil to perform in the summer of 2005.

Roger has also had the privilege to perform on stage with Harry Connick Jr. at his Mardi Gras events in 2003, 2004 and 2007.
